Why brands shoot ads in Uttarakhand
An ad shoot lives or dies on how many good shots you can get in a day. Uttarakhand helps because very different looks sit close together: city streets and campuses in Dehradun, a river and ashram setting in Rishikesh, misty hill roads near Mussoorie, forests and lakes within a few hours. Less time in vehicles means more time in front of the camera.
- Many looks within short drives, so one base can cover several scenes
- Real, un-staged backdrops that feel fresh compared with overused metro locations
- Easy contrast between urban, spiritual, adventure and nature settings
- Resorts and hotels that can host a client, agency and crew together
What an ad film shoot needs from line production
Ad shoots are short, expensive per hour and watched closely by clients and agencies. The line producer protects the schedule so the creative team can protect the idea.
- A tight shot-by-shot schedule built around light, travel and talent availability
- Permissions for public places, roads and any sensitive locations before the crew lands
- Talent, product, vehicle and prop logistics, including backups
- Agency and client coordination, with a clear approval loop on set
- A weather plan and a backup location for every outdoor day
- A clean wrap with a cost report and footage handover

Permissions for ad shoots
A commercial shoot in Uttarakhand goes through the same state single-window process as a film. A Shooting Permission Certificate is applied for online by the producer or an authorised line producer. Our guide to film shooting permissions in Uttarakhand explains the full route.
On top of that, ad shoots often need:
- Road and traffic clearance for vehicle shoots and convoys
- Local approvals for ghats, temples, markets and other public places
- Written consent from resorts, campuses and private owners
- Forest permission for any forest or protected land
How we run an ad shoot day
- Night before: call sheet issued, locations and permissions double-checked, talent and vehicles confirmed
- Early morning: unit call timed to sunrise light, with breakfast and transport already moving
- On set: a producer managing schedule, safety, public interference and approvals so the director stays with the shot
- Midday: lunch and moves planned to avoid harsh light and traffic
- Golden hour: the hero shots protected in the schedule, with weather alternatives ready
- Wrap: footage backed up, cost tracked and next-day plan shared
Budget and timeline
Ad shoots are usually one to three days on location, plus a recce when possible. Costs depend on crew size, locations, travel, talent and equipment, so we build a line-item budget from your brief instead of quoting a flat number. Read what drives the cost of shooting in Uttarakhand, or send us your brief and we will reply within two working hours.
